Casting Doubt on Environmental Problems

Some pseudo-scientific front groups seek to cast doubt on the severity of problems associated with environmental deterioration and create confusion by magnifying uncertainties and showing that some scientists dispute the claims of the scientific community. For example some groups such as:

  • the Information Council on the Environment, which is a coal industry front group, publish propaganda which argues that global warming will not happen.

Other groups emphasise the uncertainty associated with global warming predictions or argue that the United States could be better off in a warmer world.
