In response to the reports the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), proposed a five-point plan to the Federal government for follow-up on the ESD recommendations:

• A clear timetable for implementation of recommendations
• A Federal Office of ESD to co-ordinate implementation
• Establishment of a Federal Environment Protection Agency
• An ongoing Roundtable to continue highlevel consultations on issues flowing from the 1990-91 ESD process. This forum would involve Commonwealth Ministers, the Prime Minister and representatives of key interests.
• Ongoing community education on ESD.
